How to Create and Sell a Profitable Online Nutrition Course

Are you interested in learning how to create and sell a profitable online course for your nutrition or health business? You already know how important it is to have an online nutrition course that will help people lose weight, gain muscle, or just get healthy in general. So why not make money while doing so?

In this post, we’ll explore the key steps that are necessary for attracting new clients and marketing your course effectively, as well as other important considerations such as the different types of offers that you can create and how to determine which ones are most likely to be successful. By the end, you’ll have everything you need to get started on creating your own online course and achieving your income goals.

So let’s get started!

Why an Online Course for Your Nutrition Business

If you’re serious about growing your business online and creating multiple streams of income, then you should be thinking about having an online nutrition course as well. Why? Because there are thousands of people who would love to take your course because they don’t know how to get results on their own. I believe that everyone should sell online courses in their health and nutrition business, regardless of their niche!

Create Multiple Streams of Income

Creating your business around one-to-one and one-off sessions is not sustainable in the long run. Eventually, you run out of time or energy – or both! Doing individual consults is often not profitable as you reach a limit of the number of clients and you can manage with your time constraints.

You can effectively manage your time by offering a group course or program that is open to small groups, rather than doing one-on-one consults. Doing so will allow you to have multiple streams of income as you are able to continue doing one-on-one work at a higher level, as well as creating small workshops or recorded video content to optimize your internal revenue.

In the US market alone, the revenue for online course creators is estimated at $1.6 Billion in 2020 and is expected to reach $7 Billion by 2027. That means that the online course business model is here to stay for a long time!

Create a Variety of Products for Your Target Audience

If you’re creating online courses for your health or nutrition business, one of the key things you’ll want to keep in mind is variety. It’s important to have a range of different digital products and online learning programs available to potential clients, as this will help keep your business fresh and interesting for your students and for you!

For example, if you’re selling a fitness product, you might offer a low-cost workout routine that includes videos, ebooks, meal plans, etc. If you’re selling a weight loss product, you could include a diet plan, recipes, exercise routines, and more.

On the upper end of your offers, you can create an intimate group coaching program that may include access to recorded content, weekly group calls, monthly one-on-one time with you, and even physical products like a food journal or branded tee shirts.

The possibilities are endless!

Building Your Online Business With Digital Products and Courses

So what exactly does building your online business entail? Creating an online training program is beneficial because not only will it teach you new information, but it will also give you plenty of practice on how to structure, design, edit videos, write content, etc. When you start building an online nutrition course, you will not only learn all these things, but you will also be giving back to the community. This means that when you start selling your online nutrition course, you are sharing what you learned with others, therefore helping them too!

Create a Compelling Online Course Topic

The first step to creating a profitable online course is to come up with a compelling topic that your target market will be interested in. To flush out your online course idea, you’ll need to spend some time researching your niche and determining what problems or challenges your ideal clients are facing. Once you have a good understanding of their needs, you can start brainstorming ideas for creating a course that will help them address and overcome those challenges.

One strategy that can be particularly effective when deciding on your online course topic is to think about the common patterns you see among your clients and people you work with, as well as any pain points or questions that frequently come up in your interactions with them. You might also consider surveying your existing clients or even your email subscribers to get a better sense of what your audience is struggling with and what kinds of solutions they’re seeking.

Once you’ve come up with a few online course ideas, it’s time to start narrowing down your choices by considering a few key factors:

  • How much demand is there for this type of course?
  • Can you find comparable courses already on the market?
  • If so, how is your course different and how can you highlight those differences?
  • Do you have the skills and experience necessary to create a high-quality course that will provide real value to your audience?

Make sure your topic directly addresses a pain point or problem and has a measurable result or outcome.

For example, one of my clients, Brittyn Coleman has an online program for mothers of autistic children to help them have a healthy diet. This can be a huge problem as these children typically have sensory issues and are extremely picky about what they are eating. Her course is called “Overcoming Picky Eating: An online course for parents of children on the autism spectrum“. As you can see in this example, the course topic is clear with measurable results for the client.

This will help you to market your course effectively and establish yourself as an authority in your niche, increasing the likelihood that potential students will be interested in enrolling.

Once you’ve found a topic with strong potential for success, it’s time to start drafting your course outline. This will give you a clear roadmap for how to structure your content and helps to ensure that you cover all of the key points that your students need to know.

Create an Outline for Your Course Content

The next step is to begin outlining your course content. This will help you to organize your thoughts and ensure that your course covers all of the necessary information. When creating your outline, start by breaking down your topic into smaller, more manageable sections. Then, within each section, identify the specific concepts or topics that you want to cover.

As you’re brainstorming ideas for your course content, keep in mind the needs of your target audience and what they’re hoping to get out of taking your course. In addition, make sure that your content is engaging and easy to follow. Remember, you’re trying to help your students learn new information, so your course should be designed in a way that makes that process as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Once you’ve created an outline for your course, it’s time to start filling in the details. If you’re not sure where to begin, start by creating a list of all of the resources you’ll need to create your courses, such as books, articles, websites, and documents. You might also want to consider creating a mind map or brainstorming diagram to help visual learners better understand your content. By doing this, you’ll have a better idea of how long your program should last. Ideally, your course should be between 6 weeks and 3 months, with an option to continue with you on a month-to-month basis.

Creating Engaging and Informative Content

Now it’s time to start putting together your course content!

At this point, it’s a good idea to create a detailed outline for your course. This will help you not only organize your thoughts but also start thinking about the individual lessons or modules that you’ll need to create. Each lesson should have a specific purpose and goal, and it should build on the previous lesson to help your students progress towards their desired outcome.

As you’re creating your outline, think about the format that will work best for your course. Options might include video lessons, audio recordings, a slideshow presentation, or a written guide. You may also want to consider adding in assignments or quizzes to help reinforce the material and give your students an opportunity to practice what they’ve learned.

One key strategy for creating engaging course content is to use visuals or multimedia whenever possible. This could include infographics, screenshots, videos, or images. Adding visual content can help break up the text and make your course more enjoyable to consume.

Competitively Pricing Your Course

Once you’ve created your online course, it’s time to start thinking about your pricing strategy. When determining your price, it’s important to find a balance between making a profit and making your course affordable for your target audience. In general, it’s a good idea to start with a lower price point and then gradually increase it as your course becomes more popular.

You can also offer discounts or coupons to encourage people to enroll in your course. For example, you might offer a discount to early bird enrollees or those who sign up for multiple courses or give your existing one-on-one clients access at a discounted rate.

Technology, Tools & Platforms

To successfully launch an online course, you’ll need more than just great content – you’ll also need the right technology. Fortunately, there are a number of different platforms and tools available that can make creating and selling your course a breeze.

First, you’ll need a way to host your course content. There are a number of different platforms that you can use for membership sites, such as Teachable, Thinkific, or even on your own website.

You’ll also need a payment processor so that you can accept payments from your students. Popular options include PayPal and Stripe, although there are many other choices as well.

There are several “all in one” platforms like Simplero or Practice better that handle multiple facets of hosting and selling your online course.

Finally, you’ll need some type of video conferencing software so that you can interact with your students in real-time. Options here might include Skype or Zoom, although others are available as well.

If you’re not sure which technology to use for your course, try out a few different options and see which one works best for you.

Generating Excitement and Interest Before Your Launch

Before you officially launch your course, it’s important to generate excitement and interest among potential students. One key way to do this is by creating a landing page for your course and promoting it on social media or through other online platforms.

You may also want to consider doing some paid advertising to help get the word out about your course. Facebook ads and Google AdWords are two popular options, although there are many others to choose from.

Finally, don’t forget to reach out to your personal network and let them know about your upcoming course. This is a great way to generate some early interest and get people talking about your launch. You can also send out emails to your subscribers to let them know about the course and give them a chance to enroll early.

Launching Your Course

Now that you have all the pieces in place, it’s time to launch your course! The first step is to choose a launch date and create a marketing plan for this period.

One key part of your marketing strategy should be to build up anticipation among your future students. This can be done through email or social media, as well as by posting regular updates on your website and social media channels.

It’s important to have a few promotional strategies ready as well, such as special discount codes or limited-time offers. This can help encourage people to enroll early and get a jumpstart on your course.

There are a number of different ways that you can promote your course and marketing tools you can deploy. One popular option is to do a free webinar or virtual summit, which gives people the chance to learn more about your course and sign up. You can also consider creating an affiliate program or recruiting some ambassadors or promotional partners who will help spread the word about your course.

While this post isn’t about digital marketing or marketing funnels, you can reach your future students in multiple ways…

Email Marketing

Do you have an email list? Your email list is a built-in warm audience that you can tap into as part of your launch strategy. Email marketing can be a great way to reach out to potential students and promote your online nutrition course. You can use email to share updates about your course, as well as special offers or discounts that you’re offering. You can also use email to build relationships with potential students and keep them updated on your progress as well as drive traffic to your course landing page or social media accounts.

Content Marketing

Content marketing can be a great way to promote and market your online nutrition course. You can create blog posts, videos, or other content about healthy living topics that are relevant to your course. This can help you build up an audience around these topics and also provide potential students with valuable information before they sign up for your course.

Social Media Marketing

Social media can be a great way to reach out to potential students and promote your course. You can use social media to share updates about your course, as well as special offers or discounts that you’re offering. You can also use social media to build relationships with potential students and keep them updated on your progress.

There are a number of different social media platforms that you can use to promote your course. Some of the most popular options include Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also consider using Snapchat, TikTok, or Pinterest if they’re relevant to your target audience.

When it comes to social media marketing, it’s important to post regularly and interact with your followers on a consistent basis. This will help you build up a strong relationship with your potential students and keep them engaged with your course.

Paid Promotions & Ads

Another great way to market your course is through online ads. Facebook ads and Google AdWords are two popular options, although there are many others to choose from. You can also use paid advertising to drive traffic to your course landing page or website.

Word-of-Mouth Advertising

Finally, don’t forget about the power of word-of-mouth! If you have a great course, your students will likely tell their friends and family about it. You can also encourage word-of-mouth advertising by offering referral discounts or other incentives for people who help promote your course.

Affiliate Marketing

Creating an affiliate program for your course can be a great way to get more people to promote it. You can offer affiliates a commission for every student that they refer to your course. This can be a great way to generate interest and sales, as well as build up buzz around your course.

Many payment processors, course platforms, and email service providers have affiliate marketing options built in. It’s also a good idea to have some incentives or rewards for your affiliates – this can help increase their motivation and encourage them to promote the course more actively.

After Your Launch

Once your online nutrition course is up and running, an important step is to focus on improving your marketing and sales strategies. Take an honest look at your metrics like traffic, conversions, and sales. Then use this information to improve your future launches.
